# stopApp

Command (Application).

Stops the application and service

Shuts BeNav down completely: any guidance in progress is stopped, the RNC service is stopped and
the process exits. Intended for the end of a shift, or for a managed device where the client
application controls what runs.

**Worth knowing**

- This is a full shutdown, not a pause. Nothing further can be sent over RNC until BeNav is
  launched again, and launching it is not something RNC can do.
- [`onAppStatusChanged`](https://docs.benomad.com/benav-rnc/notifications/on-app-status-changed.md) carries a final `appStopped` event before the
  process exits, so the client application can record that navigation ended deliberately rather than
  crashed.
