# startAppHidden

Command (Application).

Starts the application in the background

Puts a running BeNav in the background, or keeps it there. Useful when the client application wants
navigation prepared and running (route computed, guidance active, notifications flowing) while the
driver keeps looking at the client application's own screen.

**Worth knowing**

- Like [`showApp`](https://docs.benomad.com/benav-rnc/commands/show-app.md), it cannot start a stopped application; a command that arrives while
BeNav is down is refused with `-7 application.not.started`.
- On a cold start the application appears briefly before hiding itself.

*Note: you'll still see the application pop briefly before hiding itself immediately.*
